Initial training for new volunteers is two half-days plus a 3-hour orientation for all volunteers. The program then runs for 6 weeks of 2-hour lessons with your student .
VASS organizes the required training for it’s volunteers, and its usually scheduled in early January. You will need to take either the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) or Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA) overview course (1 day) and the CADS Autism Spectrum Disorder module (half day). Additionally, other modules offered through out the season. If for some reason you are unable to take the training prior to volunteering, you can sign up as an on-hill assistant until it is complete.
